Kansas State Player quotes

Senior G/F Claire Coggins
On her half-court shot...
“Well, I guess one was bound to go down. I got a lucky look, it was a good look. Marlies (Gipson) was heads up on that inbound play and she hit me and I wasn’t really guarded at that time so I just threw up a shot and it went in. I’m just really happy that the one shot that I did make came at a very opportune time.”

On her thoughts before her big shot...

“I honestly don’t even know what I did. I just knew that I needed to shoot. I don’t know if I dribbled or not. I’m always looking at how much time we have. It was just a shot and it went in. What I’m really proud of in our team, though, is that we got on the sideline and we were really excited but we calmed down and came out. We knew we just had to focus, knock down everything and win the game.”

Junior Forward Shana Wheeler

On her breakout performance tonight...

“Just coming out in the first couple games, I think I did alright. To just get my confidence back and get back into playing, I felt really good. As you could see, it was my first game without the knee brace, so that was really exciting for me. I just have to thank my teammates for doing an awesome job for encouraging me to get back to be the player I can be.”

Sophomore Forward Marlies Gipson

On her defensive performance...

“I think when people were driving, Shana and I were in there to help. Sometimes you can’t help out on those plays when they just dump it. We just had our timing right and we had a good rotation, and it did happen to help out. We all just worked really well together.”
