Tennessee Tech Head Coach Quotes

Head Coach Mike Sutton

On the game...

“First of all, I’d like to congratulate Kansas State on a great game. Their kids played hard. I think that when you look at the players during a transition period, there are some difficulties involved. I know that when I made transitions in the coaching profession with coach (Tubby) Smith from Tulsa to Georgia to Kentucky, working with someone else’s players can be difficult. I can see progress with this Kansas State team. I think that if the kids will buy into what the coaches want to do, Kansas State will make some dramatic progress. I thought Coach Huggins did a good job tonight of going small on us and causing some match-up problems. We did some good things, but we couldn’t control the boards quite as well as we needed to. And who said these guys (Kansas State) couldn’t shoot?”

On Bob Huggins’ coaching...

“I think that you have to play with some emotion. However, you never want your emotion to overpower your execution. I think that because of that emotion and passion for which these kids will play, you will love to watch Kansas State basketball here in the future. Coach (Jim) Wooldridge was a fine coach as well, but Bob’s kids will pressure you and get up in your face. The game will get kind of open, and because of that be sloppy at times.”
