Washington State Quotes

Head Coach June Daugherty
On thoughts on the game ...
"This was our first road test. I thought we were in passing lanes and we had great pressure on the basketball, our rotations were really sharp early in the game which gave us a big lead early in the game."

On poor finish to first half...
"I think there were two things. One you have to give credit to K-State. They mixed in the zone defense a little bit and then fell back into man, which was very effective. We did not show a lot of poise in recognizing what they were in and continuing to execute at a high level. Then were started to take some tough shots and when you do that you end up not having a lot of success. We lost a bit of intensity with the pressure on the basketball in the full court."

On poor shooting...
"I thought we could have had better ball reversal. We did not attack the gaps which I thought were wide open in the zone and our post players have to present themselves better in the short corner. That is an execution flaw that will be addressed in practice."

Sophomore Guard April Cook
On thoughts on the game...
"We came out with a lot of good energy but that kind of died off towards the end of the first half. They made their run and they have a couple of good shooters. Our defense was not as intense and they jumped on it."

On benefits of first road game...
"To a lot of players on our team this was their first road game ever. We know that we just need to feed off each other and feed off our energy. It was a pretty good crowd and we just needed to stay with it."
