Iowa State Player Quotes

Offensive Lineman Doug Dedrick

On what this game can mean for next year...

“They got to look at the positives. We put up 626 yards. I believe that is a school record. You got to look at all the positive things we have done. Every time we lose it is on us. I don’t think there has been one game where we just got beat up. You got to look at what you have done and what you can do and build on that. You can look at the negative things but just take them with a grain of salt. Try to find a chip on your shoulder and go work on next year.”

On the offenses play today...

“We were just moving the ball up and down the field, basically at will. Unfortunately, we had those three turnovers and that really hurt us. We still scored thirty points but we just had a few mistakes. I love that we scored on the last play of the season especially for R.J. (Sumrall) to catch it, it was great.”

Punter Mike Brandter

On next year ...

“We’ll be a whole lot better as a team. Special teams, offensively, and on defense. From my stand point, on special teams, Grant (Mahoney) and I are coming back so, I’m looking forward to that. Coach Boulware is always going to coach his butt off and he’s going to get us great schemes. I think tonight we got beat on special teams. We gave up a couple punt returns, and just didn’t get enough hang time on the ball.”

On the off-season...

“It’s just a bad taste in your mouth, the whole time you’re in the weight room, every morning at 5 a.m.. All the older guys need to keep instilling in the freshmen’s minds that we have to get better and we have to build ourselves out of it.”
