Kansas State Player Quotes

Wide Receiver Deon Murphy

On the game being a joy or a relief...

“I would say it’s a joy not a relief.  Sending out the seniors with a win is great.”

On what’s ahead for K-State...

“Hopefully more wins, a big 12 championship and winning the North.  Basically every goal we had coming into this season.”

On what needs to change...

“I think so attitudes and playing styles.  We need to start finishing games and I think we did a good job with that tonight.”

On his plans for next season...

“A lot of people have a lot of options and things on our minds, and I am one of them.  I don’t know what the future holds for me right now.  I’m going to keep going until we get new coaches in the program.”

Running Back Lamark Brown

On what’s next for him...

“Staying here and getting school work done and trying to get this program back up where it is supposed to be.”

On his offseason outlook...

“I’m not dreading offseason at all, I’m looking forward to it.  It will give everyone the chance to become better players, learn the new system, and get ready for next year.”

On what he thinks needs to change...

“Everyone needs to buy into the new system all the way so we don’t have to start off with a couple of guys and keep building it up.  Everyone in from the get go will get the team going.”

Wide Receiver Brandon Banks

On what Coach Prince said to the team after the game...

“He said we played a good game, did a good job this season, and he said his goodbyes to everyone. He pretty much said what he had to say about the future and the past. He left in a good mood. One thing I learned from him, the main thing, is to be an educated and successful person.”

On his thoughts on the future of the program...

“We’ll keep doing what we’ve been doing, overcoming adversity. Whoever comes in, we’ll just have to listen and do what they tell us to do and go out there and win ball games. It’s going to be the same, just with a different coach.

Quarterback Josh Freeman

On today’s game...

“It was good. We played right into Coach Prince’s philosophy, to a T’, actually. We wanted to pass and score, we did so in the first half, then we were able to run the ball well enough and take enough time off the clock to win in the second half.”

On whether or not this was his last game as a Wildcat...

“There’s a lot that goes into that, so I can’t give you a clear-cut answer. I don’t know. I see myself as a junior, I see myself coming back. It was all about the seniors today, it was all about sharing the moment with those guys.”

On his touchdown pass to Deon Murphy...

“He ran a great route. It was initially supposed to be a play action to try and get the safety on that bite down on Deon to get it over his head. They were about to blitz the weak-side linebacker, so we had to change the protection to a straight drop back. The safety bit just enough that I was able to get it over his head and Deon made a great catch.”
