SE: Thanksgiving Wishes from the Wildcats

Nov. 24, 2011

On this Thanksgiving Day of 2011, “Sports Extra” sent out an invitation to all of the K-State sports teams to express their words of thanks.

I’m thankful for my family, friends and the amazing life I live. I’m so blessed and lucky to play volleyball at Kansas State. We take so much for granted, so Thanksgiving is always a great reminder of what we really have and should be thankful for ALL the time. – Kaitlynn Pelger, volleyball

This Thanksgiving I am extremely grateful for my family. After losing my grandmother a few weeks ago, I am all the more aware of how important my family is to me and how pertinent it is to spend as much time with them as I can. I’m thankful for being blessed with their support as well as the kindness and encouragement they have always given me. – Sam Etsell, equestrian

I’m most thankful for the family I have and the people I have in my life. Without my upbringing, I would not be who I am today. I’m so thankful for the great friends I have made with people on and off the team. – Courtney Traxson, volleyball

I am most thankful that my parents are still healthy and here for me. I am thankful for all family and all the people that I’m surrounded by that are supportive. I am thankful to be blessed with the ability and talent to play basketball. – Ashia Woods, women’s basketball
I am most grateful for the support of my family and teammates. I am thankful to have them in my life every day because they do so much for me. – Gina Madonia, volleyball

I am thankful for God, my family and friends, the life that I have, the coaching staff and my teammates here at K-State and the people in the community who support our program. – Heidi Brown, women’s basketball

I am most thankful for the many blessings God has bestowed upon me, a wonderful wife and family, the opportunity to work with such outstanding people here at Kansas State, and the opportunity to coach and do what I love. – Jeff Hulsmeyer, assistant volleyball coach

Having been a student-athlete and now a coach, time is so precious, so when I do have the time I like to reach out to those closest to me such as family and friends. With most of them being so far away, I utilize spare time with writing letters to keep in touch. It may seem a little out-dated to write letters, but I know I enjoy receiving them so I figure others will as well. – Tara Hallan, assistant equestrian coach
I am most thankful for my family. I have been so blessed to have a supportive, loving family. Not only my family back home, but my K-State family as well. I am very lucky to be able to surround myself with amazing people who I consider my family. – Brittany Chambers, women’s basketball

This Thanksgiving I am most thankful for where I am in my life. I have a great job where I get to work with wonderful athletes every day, and am supported by an awesome staff. I have a wonderful fiancé who supports my endless work hours and is our team’s biggest fan. I couldn’t ask for anything else right now … except maybe to win the lottery!  -- Casie Lisabeth, equestrian head coach

I am thankful to be a member of the K-State family and to have been given the opportunity to be a part of something greater than myself. – Sarah Swenson, cross country/track

I am most thankful for my brother Isaiah William Treadwell-Wittman because without him I would not be the person I am today. I am also thankful for my parents, Bill and Ludi Wittman, for giving me opportunities to be successful. Last but not least, I am thankful for friends I’ve made and the extended family that has been placed into my life at K-State. – Stephanie Wittman, women’s basketball

I’m most thankful for my great health, my family and great friends. I’m also very thankful for the opportunity to continue my volleyball career and follow my goals in life. – Kuulei Kabalis, volleyball

I am especially thankful for my family and my fiancé. God has blessed me with a wonderful life that has been full of so many opportunities and blessings. I am thankful for the opportunity to attend a great university and play volleyball and basketball. I am thankful for all the love I have received and the ability to pass it on and love others. God is good. Life is good. – JuliAnne Chisholm, women’s basketball

I am extremely thankful for my sisters. They are truly my best friends and I am blessed to have them in my life. – Kathleen Ludwig, volleyball

I am most thankful for my family and teammates this year.  I have spent the last six months injured, and unable to do what I love most.  Without my family and friends, I'm not sure how I would have made it through this.  My teammates have shown me why a team is considered a family; they’re behind me through the good times, and the bad.  I could not imagine this last year without them, and am incredibly thankful for their support. – Stephanie Patterson, equestrian

I am thankful for the people in my life because they have helped me to become the person I am. I am thankful for all the opportunities I’ve been given in life, and thankful for all the memories. – Brandy Brown, women’s basketball
I’m most thankful for my family and friends that support me in everything I endeavor. From athletics, to school, to simple instances of everyday life, I know these people are behind me 100 percent. My teammates are my friends and family here at K-State. Without them, I would be lost and my purpose would be insignificant. I’m thankful for each and every one of them. They are what make me, me. – Laura Lee Baird, cross country/track & field

I am thankful for the support of my family. They mean the world to me. – Dakota Kaufman, volleyball

I am most thankful for the people who have been part of my life, both positively and negatively. I think you learn from everything you experience, and in my case, I believe that I have grown into the person I am today because of all the people in my life. – Jalana Childs, women’s basketball

I am most thankful for my family. They are such a great support group for me during good and bad times. I am so blessed to have a family who loves and cares about me at all costs. – Alex Muff, volleyball

I am thankful for my family. I am also thankful that God is in my life and that He led me to K-State. He not only gave me a wonderful team and coaching staff, but also friends, supporters and the opportunity of education in a great college. – Lilla Porubek, volleyball

This holiday season I am thankful for my teammates. They act as my ‘family’ since I am unable to go home to Kansas City as much as I would like. They have provided me with support and encouragement on and off the court. – Caitlyn Donahue, volleyball

I think what we do as coaches is very taxing on our loved ones. We are always busy, away from home and very self-less. I am so thankful for the supportive family environment we have in our athletic department here at K-State. I am thankful for the hard work of our athletes, the support of our staff and the welcoming environment in Manhattan, otherwise it would be very difficult to do what we do. – Kyle Hierholzer assistant track & field coach
