Kansas State Player Quotes

Senior Guard Clent Stewart

On the free throws in overtime...

“We missed three front-end free throws back-to-back-to-back. That’s unacceptable and if you want to be a good team you have to make free throws in the end.”

On the youth of the team...

“Obviously, we do have a young team but it’s a basketball game. Me and Blake are the seniors out there. Mike is a freshman, but Mike is smart and he’s out there. Jacob is out there and he’s smart. I think we handled it pretty well. Guys played hard all the way to the end. Unfortunately, we couldn’t come out with a win. I really think that showed some character for our younger guys. They have it in them and I think we can build off that for future games.”

On his team’s balanced scoring...

“There has been a lot of talk about getting Mike some help. He’s obviously putting up some tremendous numbers. We have to help him out... Andre has really come on as of late. We’re just trying to get more balanced. A lot of teams are going to try to double-team or triple-team him (Michael Beasley). We’ve got to step up and make shots and that’s what we’re trying to do.”

Senior Guard Blake Young

On his team’s performance tonight...

“You live and learn. We’ve just got to learn from it. We’ve just got to keep on fighting. We kept fighting and things didn’t turn out our way. Like Clent said, we missed free throws down the stretch. Those things you can work on to get better at. Overall, I think we’re pretty good and we’re going in the right direction. I feel like our team still has a chance to be pretty good.”
