Postgame Notes

The Wildcats’ starting lineup Saturday afternoon consisted of junior Shalee Lehning, senior Kimberly Dietz, junior Danielle Zanotti, junior Marlies Gipson and sophomore Ashley Sweat... This is the seventh time in as many games that the Wildcats have used this starting lineup... Each of the five starters have made at least 27 starts in their career led by Lehning who has now started 69 consecutive games dating back to the 2005-06 season... Dietz made the 65th start of her career, while Gipson (57), Zanotti (37) and Sweat (27) have now started at least 27 games in their respective careers.

 

With the win, Kansas State captured the Commerce Bank Classic Championship for the second consecutive season and for the 10th time in the 13-year history of the tournament... The Wildcats are 23-3 all-time in the Commerce Bank Classic, including a 21-3 mark under head coach Deb Patterson... Shalee Lehning was named the most valuable player of the tournament, while teammates Kimberly Dietz and Ashley Sweat, along with Jareica Hughes and Natasha Lacy from Texas-El Paso, were selected to the all-tournament squad.

 

The victory also represented the 200th in Bramlage Coliseum since the team began playing in the arena during the 1988-89 season... The team now has a 200-76 (.718) record in the building.

 

With the win, Kansas State evened the all-time series with Texas-El Paso, 1-1... The Miners won the first meeting between the two schools with a 67-61 win at the Idaho Tournament on Dec. 6, 1996 in Moscow, Idaho... The Wildcats also improved to 9-4 all-time against teams from Conference USA... UTEP is the second Wildcat opponent from Conference USA this season.

 

With the win, Kansas State increased its home non-conference winning streak to 19... The Wildcats are 108-19 all-time against non-conference opponents in Bramlage Coliseum, including a 70-9 record under head coach Deb Patterson.

 

Every player on the Wildcats saw action tonight. This marks the third time this season and the second consecutive game that every player has participated in a contest... K-State is now 3-0 when every player on the team gets in the game.

 

K-State held a 40-29 advantage at the half... With 40 points at the half, it marks the fourth game that Patterson’s squad has scored 40 or more points before intermission... The first half featured action from all 12 members of the Wildcat squad... Kimberly Dietz and Ashley Sweet led all scorers at the half with 10 points... K-State is now 4-1 when leading at the half.

 

Sophomore Ashley Sweat led three players in double figures with a season-high 17 points on 6-of-16 shooting... She has reached double figures in five of seven games this season... Senior Kimberly Dietz added 14 points to record double figures for the sixth time in seven games... Junior Shalee Lehning was the only player to record a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 13 rebounds and six assists.

 

With 13 rebounds, junior Shalee Lehning became the 23rd player in school history to eclipse the 500-rebound barrier and the eighth since Deb Patterson became head coach in 1996... Lehning is the only player in school history to have at least 500 points (587), 500 rebounds (506) and 400 assists (419) in a career... It marked the 13th time in her career and the first time this season she has registered double-digit rebounds... She also tallied 11 points and six assists... It marked the 26th time in her career she has totaled double-figure points and the seventh time she has posted a double-double.

 

Sophomore Kari Kincaid posted seven points on 3-of-4 field goals, including 1-of-2 from 3-point range... She continues to shoot well from the field and is now 11-of-15 from beyond the arc since playing Michigan State (11/22).

 

Actual attendance for the tonight’s game was 2,354... Paid attendance was 4,583... In four games this season the Wildcats have drawn 13,235 fans into Bramlage Coliseum.
