Kansas State Player Quotes

Junior Guard Jacob Pullen
On whether or not they overlooked Fort Hays State ...
"You look at people in your lockerroom and when there's something going on, you try to figure out what they are thinking and how they are preparing for games. When you go out and certain people do not perform up to their abilities, then you figure they were not prepared for the game or that they overlooked the game. It is one of two options. They played hard and they were not intimidated. They had already played KU (Kansas), they had already been on the big stage with 14-15 thousand fans screaming, so the home factor was nothing to them because they had been through it already. They gave the initial hit and when we came out flat, we were in a dogfight when we did not come with energy."

On whether or not K-State is a good team right now...
"No. Not at all. We have good players, we have good moments and we have great coaching, but then we also have bad moments where we lapse and it is two people out there playing hard and three people who do not know what is going on. They do not know where the ball is at, they do not know what play we are running. If you watch us play, you see us call a set and you see that there are people who do not know what they are doing and have no clue. If you watch Michigan State play North Carolina right now, that is not happening. You don't see somebody on their team call a play and four people look around like, 'what do I do?' They are all on the same page. I'm not saying that we are playing our best basketball right now. We are not supposed to be playing our best basketball right now, but there's no reason for us to not know what we are doing and to not play with energy."

Sophomore Forward Jamar Samuels
On what needs to change to have success...
"Our focus towards the game. We cannot overlook anybody. We are just not a team that is playing well right now. I know tomorrow is going to be a very tough day for us. We've got to get focused for the next game."

On the atmosphere at the shoot-around today...
"We really were not focused. We were giggling and joking around. Those are things that we cannot do. I really think we overlooked Fort Hays State. We watched the scouting report and thought, 'they are not an athletic team, they cannot make shots, Kansas beat them by 30.' We came into the game and thought 'let's just get this game over with and look forward to the next one.'
