Washington State Quotes

Head Coach Ken Bone
On Kansas State's pressure ...
"The difficult thing is being able to simulate what they do. We don't have the personnel that they have. We are not as strong, we are not as physical, we are not as aggressive as they are and we haven't played anybody like them.  The only team that we have played like them is Gonzaga but they don't play as hard or as aggressive as they did. It is difficult when you have never seen something and try and perform against them."

On post play...
"We didn't go up with the type of aggressive play that we needed to go up with and we need to be able to do that in the Pac 10. Again, it is difficult when you haven't seen it before but we have now, from here on out, no excuses."

On positives of the game...
"I am proud of our guys. Everyone on our team played hard, everyone on our team tried. It is not like we gave up or threw in the towel or tried to point the finger at each other.  They tried the best they could.  I am proud of our team.  I am proud of the effort of our team. We played a bigger, stronger more experienced opponent on their home floor."

Sophomore Guard Klay Thompson
On K-State's defense in the first half ...
"It was good defense, I think I forced it on a lot of possessions, especially off the dribble I forced it too much. I have to give it to them - they played good defense, they played good team defense. They put a lot of pressure on the ball and we turned it over, we just came out flat."

On scoring half of his points at the start...
"I was just trying to be aggressive but that's my weakness sometimes - I forced it. But credit them, they played good defense. They stopped us on offense and we just look to improve off of this game."

On what to take from a game like this...
"Just the fact we still battled in the second half. We are a young team and have a lot to learn. We will watch film and we will just try and figure out what we did wrong."
