Kansas State Player Quotes

Junior Forward Luis Colon

On higher confidence since last year...

“Besides Darren Kent and Chris Merriwether I’ve been here the longest time and I worked hard all summer since my surgery, losing weight, and with all that hard work I feel confident on the court. I’ve been here for three years already so it’s time to start feeling like that.”

On if he thought he would lead the team in scoring...

“I always did, if the ball comes to me and I have the opportunity it doesn’t matter who’s in the game. As long as we win I’m happy .”

Sophomore guard Jacob Pullen

On Colon’s performance...

Louis had a great week of practice, he really challenged Ron (Anderson) and Abdul (Herrera) this week in practice, he really made them practice harder or they looked bad. He came out tonight and kept that same energy, he just got every rebound and every tip in. Everything he could do to help, he did it today.’

On Louis performance helping the rest of the team...

“It makes everything easier, I laughed because I called him Beasley today because he made everything so easy. I got shots at the elbow and open threes. Denis (Clemente) got open threes, Dominique (Sutton) got open shots too. He just made everything easier. When our big guys play as good as they did today it just makes everything easier.”

On Coach Martin’s intensity...

“We knew Frank before we signed up, we are not surprised when we walk on the court and Frank is screaming at us. We knew Frank before we signed up for this and we knew Frank was going to coach with high energy and expect us to play with high energy whether we are up by 20 or down by 20. If we make a simple mistake in a game that we go through every single day in practice of course he is going to be upset. If we practice that every day then go in here and mess it up in a game of course you are going to be upset and after he tells us what we did, we just go out there and try not to make mistakes.”
