Kansas State Head Coach Quotes

Kansas State Head Coach Deb Patterson

Opening Statement...
"Credit Northwestern for coming on the road and finding a way to win a basketball game. I thought (Amy) Jaeschke and (Kristin) Cartwright did a nice job. This is a team that does not wow you in any particular sense of the game, but it is a team that competes every possession. It is a team that found a way to not be beat today. We gave them multiple opportunities with our poor play on the offensive end of the floor. I thought the biggest factor in the game was that we were very bad on the offensive end of the floor today."

On the last possession of the game...
"We wanted the timeouts down the stretch. We thought that we would be in a position to call the timeouts to give us a chance to set up a last second opportunity to get the three off, but obviously we came up the floor and dribbled our seconds away. I thought we had open look opportunities on that possession."

On poor decision making at the end of the game...
"We made three very poor basketball decisions down the stretch. We had the turnover on the drive where there was no weak side pass. We had a ball-side pass and a ball-side penetration pass that we obviously missed. We made a poor decision in the post once we had an opportunity. We had an opportunity and we took a bad shot. We also made a poor decision on the last play of the game in terms of over-dribbling and not getting off the last three-point shot."

On freshmen mistakes...
"I am not okay with poor basketball decisions. I think occasionally you might miss a shot every now-and-then because you have not learned how to be a go-to player yet. We had no consistent quality offensive mindset today. Credit Northwestern, they took our players individually out of their comfort zone. We were very bad offensively today."
