UT-Arlington Coach Quotes

 Head Coach Samantha Morrow

On her team’s play today...

“They’re fighters, they want to get out there and compete. Obviously, the opportunity to come and play a team like K-State, just makes our kids want to compete even more. They’re (K-State) great, they’ve got a little more depth than we do, we only played seven players really, and I’m proud of them for that. When you get it close, when you get within four points and then they come down and hit a couple of threes, that kind of breaks your heart a little bit. I want our kids one day to get within four and then us come down and hit a three.”

On Tamara Simmons...

“She played great. She played for me in high school, so we’ve got a little bit of a history, she and Shay (Manning) both. They weren’t going to let Candice (Champion), our post player, and Erin Dixon, they weren’t going to let them score. They’re our two leading scorers. And Tam is able to do that. She did some things we asked her as far as penetrating and hitting shots. She can get in a zone or a rhythm like that, so now we just need her to do it more often.”

On Shalee Lehning...

“She’s fantastic. We tried a lot of things. We tried to go over, we tried to go through, we tried to go under and she’s just a fantastic player. She’s a warrior out there. I think she makes the team go and sometimes you find yourself over there going wow.’ She seems to really enjoy the game and she’s just so competitive, and she plays hard on 94 feet of the floor. She’s just a really great, great player.”

On playing team’s like K-State...

“This (K-State) is a classy place. We love to come play teams like this. They’re just so good, and for them to win the Big 12 last year, that really fires our kids up even more to come here. We know we have nothing to lose. We appreciate the effort that our kids gave and to play K-State, is just fantastic.”
