Kansas State Player Quotes

Junior Forward Shana Wheeler

On K-State’s defense tonight...

“Marlies (Gipson) did an awesome job in the paint defending. The whole team did a great job tonight defending. I think half the team got a block. We just practiced real hard this week and it carried over to the game. We played real hard and got some good deflections. I’m just happy with the way we defended tonight.”

Sophomore Forward Danielle Zanotti

On her standout night on offense...

“It’s like Coach Patterson said. It’s not something that I changed. I think, in our offense, all week we really worked on ball rotation, setting each other up and really being aggressive on the offensive end. I think that tonight was just my night. I had some open shots. Throughout the past two years I have gained some confidence with that. I just took the opportunity to help the team. It all comes down to how well we move the ball. It’s a huge reflection on our offense.”

On getting off to a quick start...

“It was a great feeling. We have had a long week of practice and finals. For us to come out like that was a great feeling. Everybody was hitting shots. I think that is how we aim to start every game.”

Sophomore Forward Marlies Gipson

On the effect of K-State’s blocked shots...

“Especially inside, when they get the ball, they might second guess, whether we get a block that time or maybe alter their shot. I definitely think it is in the back of their mind.”

On practice and finals this week...

“This week of practice was very competitive. We just had to work together as a team. I think we’re glad that finals are over and we were just ready to play. We were having fun and hopefully we can carry it on to Weber State.”
