Kansas State Postgame Notes

This was the third meeting between the Wildcats and Broncos... Kansas State is now 3-0 against Santa Clara and 6-1 against teams from the West Coast Conference... K-State is 6-0 at home this season... The Wildcats have won 11 straight in Bramlage Coliseum, since losing to Baylor on Feb. 25, 2006, 79-70... This string includes the five wins by K-State during last season’s WNIT.

 

The win is the 208th victory of head coach Deb Patterson’s career... She is 208-114 (.646) in 10+ seasons with K-State and is 119-32 (.788) in Bramlage Coliseum.

 

Friday night’s attendance was a season-high 4,734, surpassing the previous high of 4,250 against Wisconsin-Green Bay on Nov. 10... To date, 24,249 fans have passed through the turnstiles of Bramlage Coliseum for an average of 4,042 per contest.

 

The Wildcats’ starting lineup Friday night consisted of: senior guard Claire Coggins, junior guard Kimberly Dietz, sophomore guard Shalee Lehning, sophomore forward Danielle Zanotti and sophomore forward Marlies Gipson... This is the fifth straight start for this group, which is now 5-0 this season... It is Coggins’ 19th-straight start and the 72nd of her career... Dietz has started 34 games in her Wildcat career, including all 10 this season... Lehning has now started 37 consecutive games, dating back to a 77-66 victory over Louisiana Tech on Dec. 6 of last year... Gipson continues a streak of 44-straight starts, starting all 34 games a season ago... This was Zanotti’s fifth straight start of 2006-07 and the 15th of her career.

 

Zanotti’s game-opening 3-point field goal continues K-State’s streak of games with a three to 97... Zanotti also opened up K-State’s scoring in the second half with a 3-point field goal... Zanotti carded a career-high 11 points on 4-4 shooting, including a career-high 3-of-3 from 3-point range... It is her first double figure scoring night of her career... She is now 7-of-11 (63.6 percent) from three-point range this season... The Wildcats finished the night with season-highs in three-point field goals made and attempted, connecting on 7-of-21 (33.3 percent) from beyond the arc.

 

Gipson registered game-highs with 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting, including just her second three-point field goal of the season, and nine rebounds... It is the ninth time this season and the 23rd time in her career she has registered double figures in points.

 

Coggins chipped in with 13 points and four rebounds... It is the 47th time in her career she has scored in double figures and the seventh time this season.   

 

Lehning touched every statistical category except steals on Friday night with nine points, eight assists, seven rebounds and one block... It is the seventh time this season Lehning has dished out 5 or more assists in a game... She also connected on her first three-point field goal of the season.
