K-State Quotes

Head Coach Deb Patterson

Opening statement...
“For her to achieve that 1,000 point milestone prior going into Big 12 basketball is just a testament to her work ethic and her talent. Really the versatility that she brings to the floor is something that I think is as good as any perimeter player that we’ve seen here at Kansas State. We look to her to drive the ball hard. We look to her to initiate and run offense for us. We look to her to be a quality 3-point shooter. This year we’ve even seen her begin to stick jump shots. There’s really nothing that we’ve asked of her that she hasn’t stepped up and mastered. I think that 1,000 point milestone is phenomenal for her, but what I think is even more special is that it brings attention to the versatility and the overall quality that she brings to this floor for our basketball team. It’s exciting to see that.”

On her team’s offensive effort...

“I was pleased overall with the fact that as a team we did a better job of getting the shot looks that we need to work for in offense. We started pressing early a little bit in offense, but once we settled in I think we began to do a better job with our ball distribution and movement and took advantage of transition opportunities. It was a positive step up in terms of the growth we’re looking to see or that we are looking for on offense.”

On the play of Jackie Stanley...

“Jackie is really impressive to me first of all because she is so mentally tough. She’s had to really take in a lot of information in a short period of time. She has seen a lot of match-ups in our pre-season that have been really challenging. It’s impressive to me to see how open she is and how quickly she picks up concepts defensively in particular. Offensively, I am amazed. It’s difficult to stay confident as a young freshman, especially with the scheduled that we’ve had.”

Senior Guard Kimberly Dietz

On reaching 1000 career points...

“It’s a great honor. I didn’t even really know it was coming. I just have to give all the credit to my teammates. They’re the ones getting me great passes and giving me great looks for 3’s. It’s just all about my teammates. They’re always there for me and getting me the ball. I’m happy and it’s a great honor, but overall it’s just all about my team and if we win.”

On how the team played today...

“I think we did a great job today. We came out a little soft and we need to work on that. Overall I think we did great. Everyone’s just playing so well together. I think we just had so much intensity and hopefully it’s going to carry over into our next game.”

Freshman Forward Jackie Stanley

On her learning experience as a freshman...

“I think it is a great experience and I’m glad I’m here. I think I’m learning so much in every area. I feel that I’m gaining experience in knowing how things work. It’s awesome to be playing with so many great players around me.”
