Kansas State Player Quotes

Senior Guard Clent Stewart

On the team’s performance...

“I think we came out and played a little lethargic. We knew what they had and basically we knew coming in we were going to win, but you have come out and play every game. You have to represent yourself and who you are. Across our chest is Kansas State and a powercat, and you have to represent that every game. I really don’t think we came out and played the way we should have.”

On all of the free-throw attempts...

“For us that is what we are trying to do - get the ball inside and get to the foul line. We’ve got guys like Mike (Beasley) and Bill (Walker) underneath, and they are going to get fouled a lot because of how strong and physical they are. We like to do that. Off of their missed buckets we like to get out and run. Tonight we didn’t get as many opportunities to get out and push the ball.”

On K-State’s defense...

“It goes back to guys not playing hard. We were giving them easy buckets. I think No. 11 (Leslie Robinson) had a lot of threes and we knew he was a good shooter coming into the came. We were lackadaisical defensively and we didn’t play the way we would have liked to.  We still came out with the win but we know we can play better.”

On the team’s offensive schemes ...

“We still want to get out and run as much as possible. You have to be smart when the opportunities are there, and if they aren’t then you have to pull back and run your sets. Even though we have guys that can go inside and score we still have to pull back and get in a better position to score.”
