Florida A&M Quotes

Head Coach Eugene Harris

On his team’s rebounding against Kansas State...

“Inside it was really a lack of effort on our part. Even though Kansas State is a great basketball team we shouldn’t ever get out rebounded by 28 rebounds. That’s something that we’re going to address. You’re talking about Kansas State who’s a very good basketball team and has a great tradition. With Michael Beasley in the middle it makes it even better.”

On playing a tough schedule...

“We keep each other up mentally. You need to play a tight schedule to get you ready for your league. I got this job in late September and I’ve only had my assistant coaches with me for about 20 days. I’ve seen an improvement since I’ve gotten my staff together and that’s the sign of brighter things down the road. You take a game like this and you try to find more positives for your team than you do negatives. The most negative thing that we had in the game was that they out rebounded us.”

On the physical inside game...

“What happened was that our inside guys got in foul trouble, especially the guys we rely on and we wound up having to play some guys that were guards inside. That was our fault because we didn’t get in there and block out. We didn’t put our body on them like we should have. I felt that Kansas State was more prepared than us from the inside stand point because they came out to play a physical basketball game. That’s a compliment to their coaching staff.”

Senior Guard Leslie Robinson

On foul trouble...

“It took a little bit of momentum that we had out of the game with the fouls. Our guys would let up on defensive pressure so I think it just affected our momentum.”

On three-point shooting...

“I’m a three-point shooter so if I get a little space I’m going to shoot it. They fell more than they missed tonight so I was hot.  I kept shooting and my teammates kept feeding me the ball.

On playing a tough non-conference schedule...

“We’re taking it as a good experience by getting us ready for our conference. We play as hard as we can. Everybody is still learning our roles with a brand new coaching staff and new coach. Everything is coming together and with every game we’re getting better. We feel like our non-conference games are getting us ready for our conference games so we can win our conference.
