Kansas State Head Coach Quotes

Kansas State Head Coach Bob Huggins
On what he told his team after the game...
“I told them a lot of stuff. I think in any great program in this country -- about what it takes to build a great program and maintain a great program -- as I’ve watched and studied and listened to other coaches, I think the one word is accountability. You have to be accountable, which means you have to be accountable to show up everyday and do your best. You have to be accountable to your teammates. You have to be accountable to your coaches. You should be accountable to your fans and to your school. It’s about pride and commitment and all of those things. Those are all good words.”

On if there are any excuses for the poor second half...

“We had one big run at the end of the first half. To give them credit, they didn’t quit. A lot of people quit, but they didn’t quit. In one timeout, I told them I’ve seen harder played games at rec centers. We had guys running between top of the key and top of the key. That’s the 40-and-over league. We didn’t make plays. We didn’t get to the ball.”

On Cartier Martin’s decision to let Bill Walker start in his place...

“We all want to get Bill minutes. I think that everyone understands that Bill is a very talented guy that needs minutes. He hasn’t played a game since August 1. But I think they want to win. I know Cartier wants to win. I know Dave (Hoskins) wants to win. I know Akeem (Wright) wants to win. I’m not sure they know how yet. But I think they want to. Cartier is a great team guy. Cartier is a really good guy. Believe it or not, Cartier is so much better today than he was day one. Cartier doesn’t kill us defensively anymore. He’s improved his game offensively because he’s worked.”
