K-State Player Quotes

Junior Guard Jacob Pullen
On the team's first game back from Christmas break...
"Frank (Martin) stressed the fact that going into this game, he wanted us to pick up where we left off. He didn't want us to come out and drag and not have energy. The first few days when we got back from break, all we did was run to get back to where we were before we left. It took us a while to get back into the shape we were before we left but as far as energy, I think we were there. We attacked them; we forced them into bad shots. We got out and ran like we wanted to early."

On taking freshmen out of the game...
"It's the last few minutes of the game and you know it is kind of getting out of hand, and Frank (Martin) had to make a statement to them, to show them that he won't allow just anything. As upperclassmen, we want them to be energetic when they step on the floor. I'm really happy with the situation that they are in. When the freshmen get minutes, you want them to come out with energy. But they came out kind of lethargic and threw the ball away and we had to come back in the game and show them that it wasn't acceptable."

On the team's current winning streak...
"It means a lot. It means the hard work is paying off for us. I think only one player on the team was a McDonald's All-American, and that was Wally (Judge). I think that shows that hard work really pays off. Frank really put a great group of people together. You don't see anybody out there being selfish, we pass the ball well and we always know where each other is at."

Junior Guard Dominique Sutton
On the team's energy level tonight...
"We knew it was going to be a big game coming in from break, because everybody had to get back into shape. We had incredible energy in the last few minutes of the first half."

On the team's current winning streak...
"It means a lot being a part of something special. Going back two years, nobody thought we would be this good because Mike (Beasley) and Bill (Walker) are gone. It just shows that all the hard work that we have put in, in the summers and the hard practices that we've had. I think that if we continue to do it, we will be very successful."
