Green Set for 2016 U.S. Amateur

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State senior men’s golfer Matt Green will compete in the 2016 U.S. Amateur beginning Monday and continuing throughout the week at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Green, the first Wildcat to compete in the U.S. Amateur since Kyle Weldon in 2012, tees off at 6:40 a.m. (CT) Monday morning on the north course to begin the first of two rounds of stroke play.

A product of Lenexa, Kansas, Green gained entry into the U.S. Amateur last month by winning the Kansas City, Missouri, qualifier at Blue Hills Country Club with a 36-hole score of 6-under par 138. He topped Denzel Ieremia of New Zealand by two strokes.

Following two rounds of stroke play at the 2016 U.S. Amateur, the field will be cut to the top 64 competitors as match play commences on Wednesday. Round of 32 and 16 matches will be played on Thursday prior to quarterfinal matches on Friday and semifinal matches on Saturday. A 36-hole championship match will take place on Sunday.

FS1 will broadcast match play on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, while the semifinal matches and final match on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, will be shown on FOX. Live coverage each day begins at 2 p.m. (CT). For more information, including live scoring, please visit www.usga.org.
