Jaffrey Set for Women’s British Open

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State’s Connie Jaffrey will tee it up against some of the best women’s golfers in the world this week as she takes part in the 2015 Women’s British Open, Thursday through Sunday, at the Trump Turnberry Resort Ailsa Course in Scotland.

Jaffrey, who will be a sophomore in 2015-16, qualified for the Women’s British Open through the Ladies Golf Union Order of Merit, which takes into account players’ performance during a number of European Ladies Amateur events throughout the year.

A native of Killwinning, Scotland, Jaffrey recently tied for 14th at the Ladies European Individual Championship and tied for 17th at the St Rule Trophy. She is currently ranked 57th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Jaffrey, who tees off at 8:09 a.m., local time on Thursday, will be competing on one of the most famous pieces of golf land in the world. Turnberry has hosted four Open Championships – including the 1977 “Duel in the Sun” when Tom Watson topped Jack Nicklaus by one stroke – and seven Senior Open Championships on the men’s side. This year marks the second time the Women’s British Open is held at the course after Karrie Webb won the event in 2002.
