K-State Adds Three Golfers for 2017-18

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women’s golf team added three golfers in the early signing period as head coach Kristi Knight has announced that Ella Adams, Reid Isaac and Niamh McSherry will join the Wildcats for the 2017-18 season.

“I am excited about the addition of these three players,” Knight said. “First and foremost, they all have great character. They all love the game, have tremendous talent and the desire to continue to improve and develop their game to the next level. Alongside our current players, they will be fun to watch next season and beyond.”

Adams, who hails from Adelaide, Australia, was the 2015 South Australia Junior Amateur Champion and finished third in the 2016 South Australia Junior Masters. She was selected to represent South Australia at the 2016 IMG Junior World Championship in addition to the 2016 Aaron Baddeley International in San Diego, California. She is also a four-time member of the South Australian Girls and Women’s State Team.

“Ella is a very talented player and I am excited she will be a part of our team,” Knight said. “She is solid in all aspects of the game and has a strong competitive desire.”

Isaac is currently a senior at Montgomery High School in Montgomery, Texas. She comes to K-State currently riding three-straight Texas State Medalist honors, doing so as a freshmen, sophomore and junior. She placed third in the 2016 AJGA Lockton Kansas City Junior while also shooting a 6-under par in the 2016 Seven Lakes Invitational.

“We are looking forward to having Reid on the team,” Knight said of Isaac. “She is as competitive as they come and that is a great asset. She has great talent, character and a strong desire.”

A product of Lurgan, Northern Ireland, McSherry was a member of the Irish girls’ team that made history by winning the country’s first-ever Home Internationals title. Individually, McSherry won the 2016 Irish Under-18 Women’s Open and took fifth overall in the 2016 Irish Women’s Open.

“It only took watching Niamh play a couple of holes to know that she would be a great addition to our team,” said Knight. “She loves the game, has great skills and a desire to compete.”

The Wildcats open their spring schedule with the Westbrook Invitational, February 26-27, at Vistas Golf Club in Peoria, Arizona.
