K-State Heads to California for UCLA Legends Invitational

Day 1 Heat Sheets | Day 2 Heat Sheets

MANHATTAN, Kan.
– The Kansas State track and field team will head west for its second outdoor meet of the season as it travels to Inglewood, California, to compete in the UCLA Legends Invitational at Drake Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

This will be the first time that K-State will travel to compete in the UCLA Legends Invitational.

The meet also marks the first of two trips the Wildcats will make to California in the next couple of weeks as the team will send athletes to compete in the Mt. SAC Relays in Azusa, California on April 13 and 14.

The Wildcats have not competed outdoors in nearly two weeks as its original second meet of the season, the Emporia State Open, was cancelled due to impending inclement weather last weekend.

The team’s first outdoor meet came at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, where the Wildcats earned six total first-place finishes and saw a new school record set en route to sixth-place finishes by both the men’s and women’s team.

K-State will face new competition at this weekend’s meet, competing against the likes of Cornell, UC Irvine, UC Davis, CS Fullerton, Nevada (w), Pepperdine, Cal Poly SLO, Minnesota (w), Gonzaga, UC Santa Barbara, Loyola Marymount and host UCLA.

Competition is set to begin on Friday with the Legends Distance Carnival. The first event on the track will start at 5:25 p.m. CT with the women’s 1500 meter run.

On Saturday, competition resumes at 10 a.m. PT with the men’s javelin throw in the field. Track events on Saturday at 12:05 p.m. CT with the women’s 4x100 meter relay.
