K-State Post Match Quotes vs, Oral Roberts

Kansas State Head Coach and Player Quotes

Head Coach Mike Dibbini
On losing lead late…
”I thought it was definitely the best first half of the season. We had a lot of good opportunities, we were very urgent when playing, which is the opposite of how we have played this season. I thought we had a really good second half. In the last five minutes we got pretty defensive because we were up 1-0 and were trying to protect the lead, but it happens. I am proud of the way we played today, in terms of the urgency and creating chances.”

On the defensive end…
“They showed a lot more ownership today. They are resilient and we did our job defensively. It is just that last five-second moment that they caught us sleeping a little bit.”

On finishing the game strong…
“We played 89 ½ minutes of solid play, and 30 seconds of just falling asleep. We kind of backed off because we were trying to secure the win. And when you do that, sometimes you learn that you need to keep the pressure going and play the same way you’re capable of playing.”

On Miranda Larkin’s play…
“I thought Miranda did fabulous to keep us in the game. She made some massive saves to help us out.”

On late game fatigue…
“The problem was though we have a big bench to help us come in, but when the game is that tight it is hard to bring in cold legs. You have to grind it out. On their part, too, they got tired. Both sides have to role with the players that have been in the tempo, and that is what we did.”

Freshman forward/midfielder Laramie Hall
On playing with the crowd…
“Well, this game had a lot less pressure. There were so many people last time that I think we riled it up in our heads too much. This game was way easier to settle down and work harder.”

Senior defender Abbey Fiser
On strong defense…
“We came out really strong today, and I was proud with the way we played. I think a lot of it is that we are a young team, and it is hard to keep a 1-0 lead under our belt. With time, we are going to have to learn that if we want to win games.”

On looking forward to Sunday’s match…
“We’re definitely ready to come out Sunday with a vengeance. We are hungry for a win. We are not happy with a Tie right now.”
