K-State Returns Home, Hosts Texas

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- K-State women's tennis will take on its fifth straight ranked opponent on Sunday when it hosts No. 35 Texas at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium.

K-State (7-6, 0-1 Big 12), which is winless all-time against the Longhorns (7-4, 0-0 Big 12), aims to improve its 4-2 record at home this season.

Breaunna Addison leads the way for the Longhorns with an 8-1 record in the No. 1 position. The senior is ranked No. 8 in the country and is 24-3 overall in singles on the year.

Addison is also paired with Danielle Wagland in doubles, and the duo is ranked No. 13 with a 7-1 record in the No. 1 position.

The Wildcats have two players with 10 dual match singles wins on the season with Millie Stretton boasting a 10-2 record in the No. 4, 5, and 6 positions while Livia Cirnu holds a 10-3 record at No. 5 and 6 positions.

For the last two matches, K-State has combined Stretton and Ana Garcia Navas for doubles play. The freshmen dropped their first match against Baylor in the No. 2 position before moving up to the No. 1 position against Wichita State, a match they were leading 5-3 but did not finish.

In singles, Garcia Navas has competed at the No. 1 and 2 positions over the last 11 matches, going 5-4 over the stretch. At No. 1, she is perfect, gathering wins against Air Force and Drake in mid-February. Her last two matches, slotted at the No. 2 position, have gone unfinished due to them going to three sets.

Following the weekend's match against Texas, the Wildcats will step out of Big 12 play for the last time this season as they take on Southern Illinois and UMKC in a doubleheader on March 26 at Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
