K-State Tied for Seventh After One Round of Big 12s

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Kansas State women’s golf team put together a first-round score of 13-over par 301 on Friday and is currently tied for seventh place in the 2017 Big 12 Championship at the par-72, 6,263-yard at the Dominion Country Club.
The Wildcats, one of eight Big 12 teams ranked in the top 50 nationally according to Golfstat, are only four shots away from a fourth-place tie and five shots from the top three. Senior Madison Talley led the way for K-State on day one, carding a 2-over par 74 to sit in a tie for 14th place.

“I saw a lot of good shots today,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “There were a lot of positives out there that we can take into tomorrow.”
Senior Paige Nelson is tied for 21st at 3-over par 75, while fellow senior Katherine Gravel-Coursel and sophomore Connie Jaffrey are tied for 24th at 4-over par 76. Sophomore Chloe Weir carded an 8-over par 80 and is tied for 41st.
TCU is the current leader at 5-over par 293. The 37th-ranked Horned Frogs hold a one-stroke lead over No. 17 Oklahoma State, while Kansas is in third place at 8-over par 296. TCU’s Annika Clark is the individual leader at 3-under par 69. 

The 2017 Big 12 Championship will resume Saturday with an 8 a.m., start to the second round. Live results can be followed at www.golfstat.com and results will be available at www.kstatesports.com at the conclusion of play on Saturday.
