K-State to Close First Season at Illinois State

MANHATTAN, Kansas - Kansas State will play its final match of the inaugural season, as the Wildcats travel to Normal, Illinois, to face Illinois State on Thursday at 7 p.m.

• K-State will look to halt a five-match road losing streak and overall a three-match losing skid. The Wildcats’ last positive result on the road came on Sept. 4 at Omaha, a 1-0 win.
• The match at Illinois State will be the final match against a Missouri Valley Conference opponent this season. The Wildcats are 0-3-0 against MVC foes this season and have been outscored 5-1 in those three matches.
• Thursday night’s match will be broadcast on ESPN3. An audio broadcast of the match will also be available on 101.5 KROCK in Manhattan and for free at www.kstatesports.com, as the “Voice of K-State Soccer” Mitch Fortner will call the action.

Recapping the Weekend
• Kansas State looked to snap its road skid in Springfield, Missouri, against Missouri State on Monday night.
• The Wildcats fell to the Bears, 2-0. This was K-State’s third loss this season by the score of 2-0.
• K-State held back the Missouri State attack for much of the first half, but the Bears were able to score off a corner kick in the 42nd minute to take the lead into the half. This was the fourth goal K-State has allowed on a corner kick this season.
• Kansas State appeared to score an equalizing goal in the 50th minute, but the effort was nullified by the officials as the ball was deemed to have crossed the end line on the pass.
• In the 55th minute, Missouri State registered an insurance goal on a 20-yard strike to seal the win.
• Missouri State outshot K-State, 19-10, including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.
• Over the last five road matches, Kansas State has been outscored 8-1. K-State’s last road goal came on Sept. 11 at Little Rock. Overall, the Wildcats have been held scoreless on the road for the last 358:57 of game action.

Illinois State at a Glance
• Illinois State (9-5-2, 3-0-1 MVC) hosts the K-State on Thursday night and will look to extend its unbeaten streak to ten straight matches. The Redbirds defeated Drake in Des Moines on Oct. 15, 3-2. The last loss for Illinois State came on Sept. 8 at Northwestern, a 1-0 decision.
• The Redbirds are led on the sideline by head coach Eric Golz, who is in his second season in Normal. Golz is 15-15-4 (.500) during his time at Illinois State.
• Illinois State is led in scoring by Lauren Koehl with 28 points on a team-high 12 goals and four assists.

Punching the Time Clock
• K-State’s roster features three players that have seen over 1,200 minutes of action this season: redshirt sophomore defender/midfielder Haley Sutter and sophomore defenders Morgan Egan and Megan Kalkofen (of a possible 1410:00). All three players came to K-State after transferring from a previous Division I school (Sutter, Memphis; Egan, Pittsburgh; Kalkofen, Wisconsin).
• Kalkofen leads the Wildcats in minutes played at 1,396, while also starting all 15 matches.
• Sutter has notched the second most minutes with 1,256 and has played in and started 14 matches. Sutter has one goal this season.
• Egan is third in minutes played with 1,235 and has played in and started all 15 matches.
