K-State Within Striking Distance in Arizona

PEORIA, Ariz. - The Kansas State women's golf team climbed five spots from the first round to the second round on Sunday afternoon to sit in a tie for second place in the Westbrook Invitational at the par-72, 6,269-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club. The Wildcats are currently at 3-under par 573, which included a 4-under par 284 in the second round to tie their best round of the season.
K-State, which is six shots behind leader Oregon and tied with UNLV, is paced by Katherine Gravel-Coursol and Connie Jaffrey, who are tied for second place after carding a 4-under par 140 over the first 36 holes. The duo is one shot off the lead.
"The ladies did great today," K-State head coach Kristi Knight said. "Katherine had a hole-in-one on No. 4 this afternoon and another career-best round for her. I’m very proud of all of them. It was a total team effort.”
Gravel-Coursol’s second round score of 4-under par 68 is tied for the ninth-lowest in school history. Setting new career low 18- and 36-hole scores, her day was highlighted by the hole-in-one on the par-3 fourth hole in round two. Jaffrey finished off the two rounds of play with a 3-under par 69. 

Junior Madison Tally carded a 2-over par 146 and is tied for 30th, while another junior, Paige Nelson, is tied for 43rd at 4-over par 148, and freshman Chloe Weir is tied at 54th at 6-over par 150.
The Ducks, currently ranked 30th in the nation, have four players in the top 11 to claim their six-shot lead at 9-under par 567. The Wildcats lead four other ranked teams, including No. 16 San Diego State, which is tied for sixth place at 6-over par 582.
Oregon is paced by Caroline Inglis, who sits on top of the individual leaderboard at 5-under par 139.
