K-State Women 4th, Men 20th, in USTFCCCA Preseason Poll

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State’s women’s track team earned a 4th-place ranking with 120.25 points, while the men earned a 20th-place ranking with 43.19 points, in the USTFCCCA’s preseason indoor track and field poll, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The 4th-place rank marks the highest ranking ever by the Wildcat women, topping their previous high 6th-place ranking attained over a three week period last season.

The women were also one of the biggest gainers in the preseason poll, moving up 14 spots from last season’s 18th-place finish. The men also made a big move into the poll after finishing last season unranked.

K-State’s women are joined by fellow Big 12 members Texas and Baylor, who are ranked 3rd and 11th, respectively. On the men’s side, K-State is preceded by Texas (2nd), TCU (7th), Oklahoma State (16th) and Texas Tech (17th).

The team returns to action on Saturday as it hosts the Wildcat Invitational at Ahearn Field House. Field events are set to begin at 11 a.m. followed by track events, which are slated to begin at 2 p.m.
