MANHATTAN, Kan. -  The Kansas State women’s tennis team will finish its regular season when it plays at No. 18 Baylor on Friday, April 21, and at No. 25 Texas on Sunday, April 23.

The Wildcats will take on Baylor at 5:00 p.m. on Friday at the Hurd Tennis Complex Center, before playing Texas at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday at the Edgar O. and Melanie A. Wellner Tennis Complex.

K-State (11-12, 2-5 Big 12) is looking for a big win on the closing end of its five-match conference road trip to end the season. The Wildcats have come close against ranked teams, including a narrow loss to No. 30 Kansas last weekend.

No.18 Baylor (17-5, 4-2 Big 12) is looking to cap of a successful season this weekend. The Bears are in the top half of the Big 12 in part by the stellar singles play of Blair Shankle, who sits at No. 5 in the country, marking the highest ranked Big 12 player. She also ranked at No. 48 in doubles paired with Elizabeth Profit.

Last season, Baylor defeated K-State, 4-1, which included a singles win from Livia Cirnu. Cirnu leads the Wildcats in wins this year at 13.

No. 25 Texas (10-7, 4-3 Big 12) is coming off a loss to Baylor. The Longhorns feature a talented lineup led by No. 40 Bianca Turati, No. 72 Petra Granic and No. 79 Neda Koprcina. The strong Texas front lineup has spurred its success in 2017.

A year ago, the Wildcats were swept by the Longhorns.

K-State brings in six players with double-digit dual win totals. Behind Cirnu, Carolina Costamagna, Ines Mesquita and Ana Garcia Navas follow behind with 11 wins.

Maria Panaite and Millie Stretton both have 10 dual singles win on the year to round up the Wildcat lineup.

Stretton/Garcia Navas lead K-State with nine doubles victories this season, while the duo of Costamagna/Mesquita have eight.

Following this weekend’s action, the K-State women’s tennis team will play at the Big 12 Championships in Norman, Oklahoma. The tournament starts Thursday, April 27.
