Letter from A.D. John Currie - December 22

The Wildcats are enjoying their highest national ranking in 36 years at No. 12 this week as Coach Martin has the squad playing at a very high level. You can catch them in action over the holidays against Cleveland State on December 29 and South Dakota on January 3. Tickets are available for as low as $15 for each game.

Our women's team is coming off two big wins in Las Vegas and will return home on January 3 to face Yale. Break in the new year with a visit to Bramlage and support Coach Patterson and the Wildcats - great seats still remain!

Our football team showed tremendous improvement throughout the season and was one win away from playing Texas in the Big 12 Championship. Four Wildcats earned First Team All-Big 12 honors on offense, the most of any Big 12 team, and we are all excited about Coach Snyder's impact and leadership.

The cross country programs were led this fall by senior Beverly Ramos, who earned All-America honors after finishing 33rd at the NCAA Championships, while our equestrian program reached as high as No. 5 in the national rankings after an impressive fall.

Congratulations to tight end Jeron Mastrud, who was honored this week with the ARA Sportsmanship Award, a national award given to a Division I football player who exemplifies excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

Wildcat fans can also be proud that K-State has the No. 1 graduation rate in the Big 12 for all student-athletes for the third straight year, a testament to our student-athletes, coaches, academic staff and University faculty. We had two Academic All-America honorees this fall as well as Jeron and Kelsey Chipman of the volleyball team earned national recognition.

As 2009 comes to a close, I want to thank each of you for your support of K-State Athletics. I hope you and your families enjoy the holidays, and we look forward to seeing you in Bramlage on December 29.

Go Cats!John Currie
