Letter from A.D. John Currie - June 2

Four Football Game Times/TV Designations AnnouncedYesterday, the Big 12 Conference and Conference USA announced game times and television picks for the first three weeks of the season in addition to all special/midweek game selections.  We are excited to kick off the 2015 season and debut the new Vanier Football Complex on September 5 with our annual K-StateHD.TV broadcast when the Cats host South Dakota at 6:10 p.m.  Stay tuned in the coming days and weeks for more information about this game as we plan to have a special announcement in regards to K-StateHD.TV, k-statesports.com and our full digital platform.  The September 12 game at UTSA will be televised live on FOX Sports 1 at 11 a.m. as the Cats make a trip back to San Antonio and the Alamodome following last season's berth in the Valero Alamo Bowl.  In addition to the September 19 home game against Louisiana Tech being picked up by FSN at 2 p.m., the network also announced that our special Thursday night game on November 5 against Baylor will kick at 6:30 p.m. and be broadcast nationally on FOX Sports 1.  Click here for our full release, and stay tuned later this month for single-game ticket information as we prepare for another season-sellout at Bill Snyder Family Stadium - making it 27 straight sellouts!Details for New Wabash Landing AnnouncedProgress continues on schedule and at a rapid pace on the new Vanier Football Complex as we close in on two months until the football program moves into the building.  Recently, we made an exciting announcement about the new Wabash Landing area in the Northwest corner of the stadium which will offer groups of up to 150 guests a premium space to watch the Wildcats. Starting at an estimated cost of $10,000 per game, the Wabash Landing will include 100 game tickets and access to a catered concessions buffet with a variety of premium food items, soft drinks, beer and wine (through the end of halftime). Groups will be required to purchase the entire space and will have access to up to 50 additional tickets depending on the size of their party.  The initial reservations for the Wabash Landing will occur in athletic department priority point order for those that join the waiting list by Friday, June 12.  If available, all remaining games will be made available to public groups beginning Wednesday, June 24.  For more information, fans are asked to contact Adam Prough in the K-State Athletics Fan Experience & Sales Office at 785.532.6650.  Click here for more information as well as a few photo renderings of the space.Update on NE Corner of Vanier Complex ProjectWhile the current Vanier Football Complex project nears completion, many fans have inquired about the Northeast corner of the stadium and our timeframe for that space.  As you may recall, additional plans call for construction of a structure on the northeast side of the new facility - Phase 3B of the Bill Snyder Family Stadium Master Plan - that will connect to the east-side concourse and fully enclose the stadium. This addition will house visiting team locker, training and officials areas, plus additional office space as well as a new videoboard that will mirror the board that has been erected on the northwest side of the stadium.  While a specific timeline has not been determined, design and fundraising work is actively underway with a goal to move forward as soon as it is fiscally responsible to do so.Thirteen Wildcats Qualify for NCAA Track and Field ChampionshipsBoth of our nationally-ranked track and field teams were in Austin over the weekend at NCAA Regionals and had terrific showings as a group of 13 student-athletes (including five total in the high jump for #HighJumpU) and one relay team qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships which will be held June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon.  We have had another terrific season, both across the board and in track and field, and we wish Coach Rovelto and both of our track and field teams the best of luck next week.  Below is a full list of those who advanced to the NCAA Championships:Women - currently ranked 10th nationallyAkela Jones - 4x400 | High Jump | HeptathlonA'Keyla Mitchell - 200m | 4x400Tia' Gamble - 400H | 4x400Sonia Gaskin - 4x400Alyx Treasure - High JumpKim Williamson - High JumpAlyssa Kelly - Triple JumpDani Winters - Shot PutSara Savatovic - Hammer ThrowMen - currently ranked 23rd nationallyTerrell Smith - 200mChristoff Bryan - High JumpNate Gipson - High JumpIfeanyichukwu Otuonye - Long JumpDean Wade Named PARADE All-AmericanCongrats to incoming men's basketball freshman and St. John native Dean Wade as he was one of 30 players nationally to be named to the 2015 PARADE All-America Boys Basketball Team.  I know Coach Weber is excited about all six newcomers to this year's team, all of whom had terrific 2014-15 seasons and careers at either the prep or community college level.  Click here for our full release, and stay tuned for 2015-16 ticket information as the Wildcats return seven lettermen, including four players with starting experience.Nelson Landing Benefit Set for June 12-132015 Ring of Honor inductee Jordy Nelson, his mother Kim, and the Nelson Family Community Foundation will hold the seventh annual Nelson's Landing Benefit, June 12-13.  This year's events include a golf tournament, drive or ride poker run and a live auction, and the recipients of the event are A.G.
