Men's Hoops to Host Second Scrimmage Saturday

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State men’s basketball team will hold its second public scrimmage at 3:30 p.m., on Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum.

The team will scrimmage for 45 minutes, which will be followed by a 30-minute autograph session. Fans can also pick up team posters and schedule cards at the event.

Junior Wesley Iwundu led all Wildcats in the first scrimmage this past Saturday, posting 12 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds, as the squad played three six-minute periods broken down between Purple and White teams. Freshman guard Kamau Stokes scored 8 points to go with 3 assists and 2 steals, while senior Stephen Hurt added 7 points and a team-leading 7 rebounds. Several players who did not participate in the first scrimmage are expected to play this Saturday.

The scrimmage will be the second opportunity to see some of the new faces in the men’s basketball program, which includes 10 newcomers, including seven scholarship players. This new group is led by NJCAA First Team All-American Carlbe Ervin II (Oklahoma City, Okla./Connors State College) and freshmen Barry Brown (St. Petersburg, Fla./Gibbs), Kamau Stokes (Baltimore, Md./Fork Union Military Academy) and PARADE All-American and Mr. Kansas Basketball Dean Wade (St. John, Kansas/St. John).

In all, the men’s basketball team returns six lettermen, including five with starting experience, highlighted by senior guard Justin Edwards (6.3 ppg., 3.3 rpg.) and Iwundu (5.8 ppg., 3.5 rpg.). The Wildcats will also regain the services of junior forward D.J. Johnson, who missed the entire 2014-15 season due to a foot injury.

Single-game tickets for the 19-game home schedule, excluding the Kansas game, went on sale to the public on Oct. 5, including the new Bramlage Bundle. Several season ticket packages as well as the Holiday and 6-game Mini-Plans are also currently on sale.

The team plays the first of their two exhibition games on Friday, Oct. 30 when the Wildcats host Emporia State at 7 p.m.
