No. 10 Wildcats Seek to Gain Ground on Big 12 Foes

MANHATTAN, Kan. – With a neutral site win under the team’s belt, No. 10 Kansas State equestrian will look to keep the momentum going at No. 4 Baylor and No. 6 TCU. K-State will face Baylor on Friday at 10 a.m. in Waco, Texas, and then travel to Springtown, Texas to face No. 6 TCU on Saturday at 10 a.m.

“This trip is always a big challenge for us playing two really good teams on the road. We have had a lot of confidence on the road so far, but we are looking to come out stronger on day one this time,” said head coach Casie Maxwell. “It has been a quick turnaround for everyone from the Georgia trip, but I think it will be good to continue from that momentum we gained.”

Kansas State comes into the meet with an overall record of 4-5, 1-3 in Big 12 matchups. In the fall, the Wildcats downed the Horned Frogs, 10-9, and will look to avenge a 1578.75-1533.75 loss earlier this season against the Lady Bears.

A trio of juniors will lead the Hunt Seat team once again: Henley Adkins, Christina Martinelli and Taylor Schmidt, as well as sophomore Molly Dunn. The Wildcats will look to juniors Gretchen Koenen and Rory Reichelt in Equitation on the Flat as well as junior Alison Brunner and sophomore Halle Kutsche in Equitation over Fences to complete the Hunt Seat lineup.

K-State’s senior threat, Danielle Kemper, guides the poised Horsemanship team as she seeks her eighth win of the season. Joining Kemper in Horsemanship will be juniors Sydney Anson and Alyssa Lombardi as well as sophomores Ashley Anderson, Paige Kemper and Taylor Serrano.

The Wildcats will seek out the senior leadership of Kara Guy, Nicholle Hatton and Kemper to pave the way for the Wildcats in Reining. Sophomore Kali Retzler will look to feed off her first ever MOP honor in her career last weekend against Georgia. Fellow classmate Brynn Critcher will join the quad as she strives to secure a point for the Wildcats in the Western arena.
