No. 7 Wildcats Face Tough Home Challenge on Senior Day

MANHATTAN, Kan. – No. 7 Kansas State equestrian will look to finish its 2015-16 regular season home schedule with a win, as the Wildcats host No. 1 Auburn at Timbercreek Stables on Saturday at 10 a.m. Saturday's meet will represent K-State's Senior Day, as the senior class will be honored at the conclusion of the competition. Admission to the meet is free and open to the public.

“We are excited to close our regular season play at home this weekend against a very tough Auburn team. We have been challenged on the road for the past seven meets, so it will be refreshing to be in our home arena.” said head coach Casie Maxwell. “Additionally, we are looking forward to tremendous support from a wide array of people who have supported our program over the past 16 years.”

Kansas State comes into the meet with an overall record of 4-7, 1-5 in Big 12 matchups. On Saturday, the Wildcats will look to avenge a 10-6 defeat against the Tigers last season.

The Wildcats will look to the leadership of Henley Adkins, Christina Martinelli and Taylor Schmidt, as well as sophomore Molly Dunn to pave the wave for the Wildcats in Hunt Seat. Schmidt will feed off her fourth career MOP honor last weekend against TCU as she seeks another triumph this weekend. The Wildcats will look to juniors Gretchen Koenen and Rory Reichelt in Equitation on the Flat as well as junior Alison Brunner and sophomore Halle Kutsche in Equitation over Fences to complete the Hunt Seat lineup.

A trio of seniors will lead the Western team once again: Kara Guy, Nicholle Hatton and Kemper, as the triple threat rides their final rides at Timbercreek Stables on Saturday.

Helping Kemper pull off an upset this weekend in Horsemanship, will be juniors Sydney Anson and Alyssa Lombardi as well as sophomores Ashley Anderson, Paige Kemper and Taylor Serrano.

The senior threats of Guy, Hatton and Kemper will guide the Reining team in the powerful competition this weekend. The seniors have combined for a record of 19-18-4 this season and a 71-49-9 career record as Wildcats. Sophomore Kali Retzler and Brynn Critcher will look to honor their senior teammates by picking up a point for the Wildcats in the Reining arena.
