AT THE PLATE
K-State, in a seven-game losing streak, returns to nonconference action with a pair of midweek home games ... The Wildcats host Omaha on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. and then take on Oral Roberts on Wednesday at 4:05 p.m. ... K-State 11-10 against non-conference opponents, but it has lost four straight ... The two games also conclude K-State’s month of March in which it will have played 17 home games ... Omaha (14-10, 5-1 Summit) will play a game in Manhattan for the first time since 2014 (last year’s contest was rained out) ... The Mavericks have won five of their last six, with all games coming in Summit League play ... Oral Roberts (13-10, 4-2 Summit), making its first trip to Manhattan since 2001, has also won five of its last six, including a 5-0 win over Oklahoma on March 22 in Tulsa.

LAST TIME OUT
Losing in one-run fashion in all three games, K-State was swept by No. 19 Oklahoma State last Thursday-Saturday to open the conference season ... The Wildcats had the game-tying run on base in each of their last at-bats in the games ... K-State trailed 2-0 after the fifth inning in the opener, but a Josh Rolette solo home run in the eighth pulled the Wildcats within one ... On Friday, the Wildcats scored three runs over the seventh and eighth innings to pull within one but they stranded 11 total in the game, including one on third base in the ninth ... In the finale, three early errors in the first and second helped Oklahoma State take a 3-1 lead, but two runs in the eighth by the Wildcats with the bases loaded forced the game into extra innings ... The Cowboys plated their game-winning run with a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning ... K-State stranded 13 in the series finale, including two in the bottom of the 10th.

INSIDE THE OMAHA SERIES
K-State leads the all-time series against Omaha, 8-1 ... The Wildcats won the only meeting in 2015, trumping the Mavericks, 10-2, on the road on April 8 ... K-State is 7-0 all-time against Omaha at home ... The first seven meetings all took place in Manhattan, including the first two in 1976 ... K-State won 6-5 against Omaha in the last meeting in Manhattan (March 12).

K-State enters the week tied with Oklahoma State for the Big 12 lead in strikeouts ... The Wildcats have 208 strikeouts in 24 games this season ... Last year, K-State had 136 punchouts in its first 24 games.

K-State is averaging 8.8 strikeouts per nine innings, which is best in the Big 12 ... The next highest clip is Oklahoma State (8.65) ... The Wildcats are 36th in Division I in K/9 innings ... The program record for K/9 innings for an entire season is 8.6 set in 1969 ... K-State has not finished a campaign with a clip higher than 8 K/9 since 1976 (8.2 - 332 strikeouts/365.1 IP) ... Over the last four games, K-State is averaging 11.5 K/9 innings.

RIGHT START
Fueling the strong strikeout numbers are the starting pitchers, who have a combined 115 strikeouts in 107 2/3 innings ... Last year, K-State starting pitchers had 151 strikeouts in 239 1/3 innings over the entire season ... The six different starting pitchers this year are averaging 9.61 K/9 innings as a group ... Wildcat starters have five or more strikeouts in four straight games and five of the last six ... Clayton Dalrymple has been K-State’s top hitter over the last seven games as he is batting .379 (11-for-29) with four doubles, three walks and six runs scored since March 18 ... His four doubles equals the combined total of the 15 other Wildcats to record an at-bat over the stretch ... He has five multi-hit games over the seven-game stretch, giving him a team-high 11 this season.

Dalrymple is among the Big 12’s top-10 in five major offensive categories: runs (1st, 25), stolen bases (1st, 11), hits (5th, 31), batting average (9th, .330) and OBP (10th, .427) ... He is also second among Big 12 hitters in multi-hit games.

VS. NONCON
Three Wildcats are hitting above .300 in nonconference action so far this year: Jake Wodtke (.377), Josh Rolette (.348) and Clayton Dalrymple (.317) ... As a team, K-State is hitting .281 in nonconference play and averages 6.8 runs per game ... At home in nonconference, the Wildcats are batting .303 and averaging 7.5 runs per game ... YARD WORK
Josh Rolette became the third K-State freshman to hit a home run this season with his eighth inning blast last Thursday ... It is the first time since 2010 (4) that K-State features at least three freshmen with a home run in a season.

Rolette is also the owner of a 17-game on-base streak, the longest by a K-State freshman since Blair DeBord in 2010 ... Rolette’s 17-game on-base streak is the longest by any Wildcat in a season since Tyler Wolfe in 2015 (22 games).
