K-State is set to host rival KU in the Sunflower Showdown series this Friday-Sunday at Tointon Family Stadium ... It is the Wildcats’ final home series of the season and penultimate set of the campaign ... K-State enters the three-game series winners in eight of its last 11 games and 11 of its last 17 ... The Wildcats have won three of their last four weekend series, but they lost a three-game set at Oklahoma last weekend ... KU enters the weekend on a season-long six-game losing streak ... K-State holds a 13-13 record at home (3-6 Big 12) while KU is 3-13 on the road (2-4 Big 12) ... The Wildcats enter the weekend seventh in the Big 12 standings while the Jayhawks are ninth.
LAST TIME OUT
K-State grabbed a series-opening win at Oklahoma last weekend but lost the series after dropping the final two contests ... It was the Wildcats’ first weekend series loss since April 8-10 vs. Texas ... Parker Rigler threw the Wildcats’ first complete game of the season to help lead them to a 9-3 in the opener ... While Rigler held the Sooners to one hit after the third inning, K-State’s offense was powered by home runs from Quintin Crandall - which made it 5-3 K-State - and Josh Rolette (two-run shot in the sixth) ... In the second game of the series, Oklahoma pulled away with six runs in the fifth to eventually beat the Wildcats, 10-1 ... K-State cut the deficit to 4-1 in the fourth when Cade Bunnell hit an RBI double, but the sixth featured 10 Oklahoma batters and six hits ... In the finale, Oklahoma captured a 12-0 win in a mercy-rule shortened seven-inning contest ... The Wildcats were held hitless until the sixth inning by Sooner starting pitcher Alec Hansen.
INSIDE THE KU SERIES
K-State leads the all-time series against KU, 175-166-1 ... At home, the Wildcats hold an all-time record of 99-79-1 (.556) ... K-State has won seven of the last 10 games and 14 of the last 20 (since 2010) ... The Wildcats have also won 23 of the last 31 games against KU - a stretch that started on 4/23/06 ... K-State head coach Brad Hill is 24-15 (.615) in his career against KU ... The Wildcats have won three of the last four series at home ... K-State has scored six or more runs in seven of the last 10 games.
BIG 12 NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
After throwing his first career complete game near his hometown of Edmond, Oklahoma, Parker Rigler was named Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week for the period ending May 8 ... The southpaw held Oklahoma to one hit after the third inning last Friday in Norman as he retired 18 of the last 20 batters he faced ... It was the first complete game thrown by a Wildcat since Nate Griep in May 2015 against Oklahoma ... Rigler is the fourth different Wildcat to earn a Big 12 weekly honor this season as he is joined by Jake Scudder (Newcomer, Feb. 29), Jake Wodtke (Player, March 7) and Josh Rolette (Newcomer, March 14).

Parker Rigler also struck out four at Oklahoma, giving him 61 punchouts this season ... The junior is eighth in the Big 12 in strikeouts and first among newcomers ... Rigler is also the first K-State left-hander with 60 or more strikeouts in a season since 2011 when Kyle Hunter had 80 ... The last first-year Wildcat with 60 or more strikeouts was Carlos Torres (76) in 2004.
With the help of Rigler’s 61 strikeouts, K-State has 390 strikeouts as a team this season - already its most in a campaign since 2012 (423 in 58 games) and eighth most in program history ... The Wildcats are aiming for 400 strikeouts in a season for just the eighth time and need 12 more strikeouts to enter into a tie for seventh in school history ... The Wildcats are third in the Big 12 in strikeouts for overall games.
In addition to being third in the conference in total strikeouts, K-State is third in the Big 12 in strikeouts per nine innings with an 8.09 clip ... The Wildcats are looking to average 8.0+ K/9 innings for the first time in school history since 1976 (8.2) ... K-State has averaged 8.0+ K/9 innings just four times since 1966.
Levi MaVorhis (63 strikeouts) and Parker Rigler (61) are the first K-State teammates to have 60+ strikeouts in the same season since Kayvon Bahramzadeh (79) and Matt Applegate (60) did it in 2012 ... While Rigler is eighth in the Big 12 in strikeouts, MaVorhis is tied for sixth.
Mitch Zubradt struck out six in his two innings pitched last Sunday against Oklahoma, which were the most strikeouts by a K-State reliever since Brandon Erickson had six on March 25 vs. Oklahoma State ... Zubradt, who has 11 strikeouts in his last 6 2/3 innings, has recorded 28 punchouts this season - the most by a K-State freshman reliever since Jake Matthys in 2013 (39 in 33 relief outings) ... Also, Zubradt has not issued a walk since March 30 vs. Oral Roberts, helping him have the best K:BB ratio on the team (5.6).
K-State, which is hitting .309 (284-for-920) in 26 home games this season, is batting 347 (60-for-173) over its last five home games (record: 4-1) ... The Wildcats have double-digit hits in their last five home games, including 16 and 13 in their wins against Baylor on April 23 and 24, respectively ... K-State has double-digit hits in six straight home games and in 14 of the 26 home games this season ... K-State’s .309 home batting average is its best in a season since 2013 (.333 in 34 games).
Tyler Wolfe, who led K-State with five hits in the Oklahoma series, is batting .375 (12-for-32) with a double, two home runs and seven RBI in his last nine games ... The senior has a hit in eight of those nine contests -- as well as three multi-hit efforts -- and reached base safely in all nine.

Jake Scudder enters the weekend with a 12-game hitting streak in Big 12 play ... Over the stretch, the junior is batting .396 (19-for-48) with four doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI ... He has also reached base safely in all 18 conference games so far, making him the only Wildcat to do that this year ... He is eighth in the Big 12 with a conference-only .368 batting average.
