Notes: K-State Heads to Creighton for Only March Road Game

Playing on the road for the first time this month, K-State will look to snap its three-game losing streak on Tuesday when it takes on Creighton at TD Ameritrade Park in a 6:30 p.m. contest ... The Wildcats, who have played their last 12 games at home, were swept this past weekend by Western Carolina ... K-State was 7-5 over its season-long homestand, which included an 8-2 win over Creighton on March 9 ... The Bluejays (12-4) enter the midweek having won six straight since falling to the Wildcats ... Creighton has won 12 of its last 13 games, a stretch helped by sweeping four straight weekend series ... The last time K-State played at Creighton was in a weekend series in 2014 - a series K-State won.

K-State was swept by Western Carolina last weekend, which was the first time it was swept at home in a three-game series since 2014 (Oklahoma St) ... The Wildcats were outscored, 23-9, and out-hit, 36-24, in the series ... In game one, K-State answered the Catamounts’ three runs in the fifth by scoring four in the bottom half, but in the seventh, a three-run home run by Bryson Bowman helped return the advantage back to Western Carolina ... The Wildcats were able to get a two-out run in the eighth but eventually fell, 7-5 ... On Saturday, Western Carolina scored five runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to put away the Wildcats, 6-2 ... K-State had the game-tying run on deck in the eighth ... In the finale, Western Carolina scored three runs in the first and four in the second to take a quick 7-0 lead before winning, 10-2 ... K-State had men on base in seven of the nine innings but went 3-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

K-State leads the all-time series against Creighton, 51-39-1 ... The Wildcats won the first of two meetings this season back on March 9 (8-2) in Manhattan ... K-State has won three of the last four ... Since 2013, K-State is 5-2 ... The Wildcats have won two straight at Creighton, capturing the last two games of a three-game set in 2014 ... All-time, K-State is 13-19 at Creighton ... Under head coach Brad Hill, the Wildcats are 9-9 against the Bluejays (4-5 on the road).

Tuesday will mark K-State’s fourth midweek game of the season ... The Wildcats are 2-1 so far in such contests, with wins over Creighton and Stephen F. Austin ... K-State is outscoring its opponents in midweeks, 24-13 - helped by a .304 team batting average and .231 clip against ... The Wildcats are in the midst of a stretch of 19 games in 27 days, which includes seven midweek contests ... Last year, K-State was 5-5 in midweeks.

Over the last eight games (since March 11), the K-State pitching staff has totaled 70 strikeouts - helping it rank third among Big 12 teams for the season with 162 punchouts ... The Wildcats are averaging 8.75 K/9 innings over the stretch ... K-State’s average of 8.24 K/9 for the entire season is also third best in the conference ... Of the three Big 12 teams averaging more than 8.0 K/9, K-State has the lowest BB/9 average with a 3.31 clip (Oklahoma St - 8.33 K/9; 4.27 BB/9 and West Virginia - 8.64 K/9; 3.44 BB/9) ... The 3.31 BB/9 innings is also the second lowest clip among Big 12 teams (TCU, 2.98) ... In 20 games, K-State has walked 65 against its 162 strikeouts.

Josh Rolette enters Tuesday’s matchup the owner of an eight-game hitting streak and 13-game on-base streak ... Both streaks are the longest by a K-State freshman since Tanner DeVinny in 2014 (15-game hitting streak, 16-game on-base streak) ... Over the last eight games, Rolette is batting .438 (14-for-32) with two doubles and three RBI ... He has a multi-hit effort in five of the eight games ... Over his last 13 games, the Shawnee, Oklahoma native has a .500 OBP (20 hits, 6 walks, 1 HBP). 

Through March 20, Josh Rolette is seventh in the Big 12 in batting average with a .338 clip (22-for-65) ... He is second among conference freshmen, trailing Luken Baker of TCU (.359) ... Since going 3-for-20 (.150) to start his career, Rolette is hitting .422 (19-for-45) during the month of March (12 games).

Along with Rolette, Jake Wodtke is among the Big 12’s top-10 in hitting as the redshirt junior is third batting .378 (28-for-74) ... In addition to batting average, Wodtke is in the conference’s top-10 in five other categories: hits (T-2nd, 28), runs scored (1st, 22), RBI (T-7th, 18), walks (T-9th, 12) and OBP (6th, .472) ... He is one of only two Big 12 players to rank in the top-10 for each of those categories (Luken Baker, TCU) ... Wodtke is already five hits shy of matching his career-high (33 in 2015) while he has established personal-bests in RBI (18), doubles (4), triples (2) and stolen bases (4).

Clayton Dalrymple snapped a 1-for-16 stretch by tallying a multi-hit game in each of the three contests in the Western Carolina series, batting .429 (6-for-14) ... The senior is tied with fellow classmate Tyler Wolfe for the team lead in multi-hit games this year with nine ... The last time Dalrymple had a multi-hit game in three or more consecutive contests was a four-game span from February 27-March 5 of earlier this year ... In 2015, Dalrymple had 13 multi-hit games ... He now has 31 in his career.

Tyler Wolfe had three hits and two walks in the Western Carolina series, helping him extend his on-base streak to a season-high nine games ... The shortstop has a .436 OBP over the span ... He has five walks over the last five games, helping rank tied for third on the team with 10 this season.

As a team, K-State has the third-best batting average of among Big 12 teams (.287) ... TCU leads all conference teams with a .325 clip while West Virginia (.288) is second ... The Wildcats’ 193 hits and .389 OBP are the second best in the conference, trailing TCU (210, .420) ... Last year through the first 20 games, the Wildcats had 182 hits on a .275 batting average along with a .366 OBP.
