Otuonye to Compete at IAAF Indoor World Championships

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Senior Ifeanyichukwu Otuonye will represent his home country of Turks and Caicos as he competes at the IAAF Indoor World Championships in Portland, Oregon on Sunday. 

The Grand Turks, Turks and Caicos native will be competing in long jump, which is set to begin at 3:05 p.m. CT on Sunday. 

Otuonye has gotten his senior season off to an outstanding start during the 2016 indoor season. He won the conference title in long jump on February 26 with a mark of 7.70m/25-03.25, which he recorded on his first attempt of the competition.     

The senior then recorded an 11th-place finish two weeks later at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, with a leap of 7.39m/24-03. His efforts earned him second team All-American honors. 

He also recorded his personal best mark in long jump this season at the Tyson Invitational with a jump of 7.75m/25-05.25 to win the competition. 

Otuonye also competed at last year’s IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China.
