Postgame Quotes: K-State vs. FAU

Head Coach Jeff Mittie Quotes

On the first half…
“I thought the first group had great energy and moved the ball well. I thought [Megan] Deines looked as good as she had in terms of her movements. You go back to the second half of the Rio Grand Valley ball game and look at ball movement in the third quarter when we played really well against them. In practice this week we really tried to get them to move the ball much quicker and stop trying to dissect everything and play with the open player. When we played our male practice guys, I walked out of one of the practices and thought we did a lot of good stuff, but the guys are pretty good and they erased some of it. I hope our group realizes they are moving the ball better because our guys were really good that day. I thought we were playing good, but that day it did not show and today it showed. That first group gave us a ton of energy.”

On coaching today’s game…
“As a coach when they are playing that well, you just stay out of their way. It is a fun game to watch because you do not want to interrupt them. They need us when they are struggling. They need us to find them a bucket or some confidence. Today they did not really need us, they just needed us to stay out of their way and let them play.”

On scoring 100…
“It was a very consistent push by us and there was not a drop off. The bench gave us energy and kept everyone energized and ready to come back in. Players always want to play, but when there is such great energy there is a bounce from players and they are like ‘I want to get in this thing.’ We were playing well and this was a fun game and I will say that Florida Atlantic is a good team. I was impressed with them early and I was very thankful we were shooting the ball that well in the first quarter because you could tell they could play. I felt like if we cooled off then they could get back in it. We did this against a pretty solid basketball team.”

Kansas State Player Quotes

Guard Antoinette Taylor
On the reserve players keeping the energy up…
“Coming off the bench it gave me a lot of energy as you can see. It also helped the other players too.”

Guard Kindred Wesemann
On the reserve players keeping the energy up…
“I agree, we did not let up and that was our biggest thing. When we substituted in and out we were trying to keep the energy going.

On hitting 100 points…
“That was cool, we shot the ball really well. We know that we are not going to shoot the ball that well every night, it is basketball and we are not going too. There are going to be tough nights, but this was a good night we had over 20 points in every quarter so that was good.”
