Postgame Quotes vs. OU

Head coach Jeff Mittie
Opening statement…
“It was as good of an offensive performance as we have had for a long time. Early, I felt like we were doing some good things. I just felt like we needed to guard somebody, particularly (Derica) Wyatt, down there. We were getting the ball to some decent spots. I liked the look in our team’s eyes. I thought our bench was coming in and giving us some good stuff. So I really felt like this would boil down to if we could commit to getting to the arc a little bit better to get them to cool off, then we could have some success tonight and we did. We had some players play real well. That was some of the best balance we have had all year from a scoring standpoint. We had a lot of options out there tonight.”

On finishing the game off…
“We played with a better poise in the middle part of the third quarter. It was getting chaotic out there. We had to find that balance between making plays and playing with poise. We got some great and-ones. Kayla Goth got a pass from Brianna Craig that was a great and-one. We were making plays, but I liked the poise that we were displaying at the same time. We were not getting crazy with the basketball. We had 20 assists on 28 field goals with only 12 turnovers, so we played with a pretty good pace tonight.”

On regaining momentum…
“We answered their runs and that is something that if you are going to win a game against a quality ranked opponent, then you have to make shots in critical times of the game and I thought we did that tonight.”

Guard Kindred Wesemann
On being in her shooting zone tonight…
“We just got the ball in the right places and I was just the beneficiary of really great offense by our team. I was just wide open and there was usually nobody near me. We were just executing our plays.”

On the offensive breakout…
“We made a couple of adjustments against their zone and they did not really run it as much as we thought they were going to. I thought those adjustments just really helped us get open looks and people in the right places. Even if the shots did not go in, we were still getting really good looks at the basket and then we could always go get the rebounds. I thought that was something that we made good adjustments from West Virginia.”

Guard Brianna Craig
On her night…
“It definitely feels good. Coach gave me a chance to go out there and make a difference. I felt like I contributed in multiple ways and got some assists. It was definitely a great feeling just to get the team win tonight.”

Head Coach Sherri Coale
On K-State’s offensive adjustments …
“They made a bunch of shots and they played really well offensively. I do not think that we guarded with the kind of grit and determination that is necessary to win games in this league.”

On improving for the rest of the season …
“I do not really concern myself too much with rankings. What I concern myself with is the quality of basketball that we are playing. We are not playing great quality basketball right now. That is my job. That is my fault. I have got to do a better job getting this team to hunger and thirst after excellence. I have got to get them to understand how important it is to compete on every possession. I have got to put them in a position where they feel like they can do that. That is the coaching staff’s job and that is what I have got to do.”

On Vionese Pierre-Louis…
“She [Vionese Pierre-Louis] has been playing really well. She had a great second half against TCU and made some really big plays down the stretch. She is doing a really good job for us. She is continuing to get better. She is just a sophomore. I do not think it is any sort of a fluke that she is probably the one spending the most time in the gym on her own. I think there is a connection there.”
