Touchdown is scheduled for 1:35 p.m., this afternoon with the team leaving directly for Columbia University where the Wildcats will practice at 3:00 p.m.
After a late-afternoon team meeting back at the hotel, the Little Apple guys are free to explore the Big Apple until a 1:00 a.m., curfew/bed check.
Monday will start early for the Wildcats with an 8 a.m. wake-up, followed by a quick breakfast and then a trip to see the Empire State Building at 8:40 a.m.
Oh, this is sort of neat. On Dec. 29, or the day before the Pinstripe Bowl game, the east and west sides of the Empire State Building will be lit in purple-purple-white for K-State, while the north and south sides will be in orange-orange-white for Syracuse.
In case you were wondering, a basic ticket to the Empire's 86th floor observatory is $19.29 for adults, or one can skip the lines for an express pass for $41.33.
Before heading back to the North Pole, Santa made a last second dump of gifts for the players at the Sheraton.
The Pinstripe Bowl arranged a package of gifts including a ring and a watch, a headset, plus some bowl clothing. NCAA rules also allow a school to spend an additional amount on players with that list of goodies including a Best Buy gift card, a plaque with a team picture, plus the normal bowl gear of warm-ups, shirts, shoes, etc.
That's all for now ... have to get to Vanier so I won't be left.
