Q&A (Holiday!) Special with Thomas Gipson

On the court, the senior leader is averaging 11.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Gipson has a team-high eight blocks in the Wildcats first 10 games and has led K-State in scoring three times with a season-high of 21 points against UMKC.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, during the Wildcats game against Savannah State, Gipson scored the 500,000th point in Big 12 history with a field goal with 3:01 left in the game.
Here's a look at what Gipson had to say about the holidays:
Sports Extra: Do you have a favorite holiday tradition?
Thomas Gipson: No, I just like to wake up and open presents, I guess. Just share the moment with my family, I haven't seen them since I've been playing college basketball, I haven't been able to go home for Christmas, but we do get to go home this Christmas and I'm going to be happy to share it with them.
SE: What is the best Christmas gift you ever received?
TG: I think my and my brother, when I was in middle school, we got an X-Box, and that was the happiest moment for me because it was the X-Box and like three video games that I was asking for from Santa.
SE: What is your favorite Christmas Song?
TG: Would it be bad if I said that I don't have a favorite Christmas song?
SE: It's OK to like them all.
TG: I just like any song, they put a smile on my face.
SE: So, do you listen to a lot of Christmas music?
TG: No, not really, but if it played on the radio I wouldn't change the station.
SE: Do you leave out cookies for Santa?
TG: I did, I have before, but then I realized who used to take all the cookies. My little brother would sneak down and then take some.
SE: Time for some 'this or that' questions. Do you like sugar cookies or gingerbread cookies?
TG: Sugar cookies
SE: Are you a gift-wrap or gift bag kind of guy?
TG: Gift bags, I can't wrap presents for nothing.
SE: Real tree or fake tree?
TG: We always had a real tree.
SE: And finally, if you could ride any reindeer, which one would it be?
TG: I'm going to have to go with my man Rudolph.
SE: Can you name the reindeer?
TG: No, no I cannot. (laughs)
Next up for Gipson and the K-State men's basketball team (6-4, 0-0 Big 12) is a trip to Kansas City to face Texas A&M (7-2) at the Sprint Center in the Wildcat Classic. The game is set to tip off at 6 p.m. and will be aired on ESPNU.
