Rickabaugh Cards 1-Under, Ties for 16th in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – Kansas State junior men’s golfer Jack Rickabaugh notched his second top-20 finish of the season by carding a 1-under par 71 in the final round of the Oral Roberts Shootout on Tuesday at Forest Ridge Golf Club. Rickabaugh was one of eight players to score under par on Tuesday, as the Garnett, Kansas, native climbed 20 spots on the individual board to tie for 16th place at 9-over par 225.

“Jack played really well today. It was a good end to the tournament for him,” said K-State assistant coach Cullen Carstens. “His putter heated up a bit and he was able to convert more of his birdie opportunities.”

Rickabaugh was able to overcome the 14 bogeys that plagued his Monday scores, settling for just one bogey and a double bogey in the final round. He moved to 3-under par through 11 holes on Tuesday before dropping back to even-par just three holes later. Rickabaugh’s fourth birdie on the day on the par-3 13th gave him his first round of under-par golf since his final round score of 3-under 69 at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on Feb. 23.

K-State’s other individual competitor, Roland Massimino, bested his Monday rounds by shooting a 4-over par 76. The freshman’s up-and-down day included 12 pars and two birdies but ended with a double bogey on the par-3 15th. The double dropped Massimino’s score to 4-over, but he was still able to move up four spots on the individual board to a tie for 50th place at 18-over par 234 for the event.

Next up for the Wildcats is a team trip north this Saturday and Sunday for the Hawkeye Intercollegiate in Iowa City, Iowa, the team’s final competition prior to the 2016 Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship.
