Schick Joins Wildcats as Walk-On

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Maureen Schick, an all-state defensive specialist/libero out of Green Bay, Wisconsin, will join K-State volleyball as a walk-on, head coach Suzie Fritz announced.

A product of Notre Dame Academy (WI), Schick lettered in four years with the Tritons. She helped lead Notre Dame to its first state tournament appearance as a senior in 2015 while also being selected as an All-State Honorable Mention by the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association (WVCA).

As a senior, the two-time first team all-conference honoree had a team-high 568 digs in addition to 65 aces. She was named the Fox River Classic Conference (FRCC) Defensive Player of the Year as well as to the WVCA All-Academic Team.

Over her entire high school career, Schick totaled 1,539 digs and played in 435 of the team’s 446 sets. She appeared in every set over the last three seasons and had 490 and 382 digs as a junior and sophomore, respectively.

Schick joins incoming freshmen Elle Sandbothe (middle blocker, Lee’s Summit, Missouri), Rachel Stark (outside hitter, Minneapolis, Minnesota) and Peyton Williams (middle blocker, Topeka, Kansas) as the four members of K-State’s 2016 recruiting class.

The K-State roster currently features 16 total players, including four seniors, two juniors, six sophomores and four freshmen.

The 2016 volleyball season begins on August 26 against Arizona in Honolulu, Hawaii.
