Schoen Invited to NCAA Career in Sports Forum

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Rising junior men’s basketball player Mason Schoen was among five Big 12 Conference student-athletes invited to participate in the Career in Sports Forum, June 2-5, in Indianapolis.

Schoen will be joined at the Forum by fellow basketball player, Toddrick Gotcher of Texas Tech, along with Oklahoma State’s Maggie Botkin and Darby Crynes and Texas Tech’s Sarah Weber.

One of more than 20 annual programs and resources organized and directed by the NCAA leadership development department, the Career in Sports Forum provides college athletes with a broader scope of the career tracks available within the sports business with a primary focus on college athletics. The Forum provides student-athletes interactive experiences with successful individuals in the sports business and a peek into their day-to-day duties and responsibilities.

Schoen and the more than 200 college athletes expected to attend the Forum will hear from a number of keynote speakers and panelists, including current TV analyst LaChina Robinson, DePauw director of athletics Stevie Baker-Watson and Lees-McRae College vice president of athletics Craig McPhail.

The participants will also attend the Next Steps Fair at the NCAA Hall of Champions, which will give them tips on gaining employment in the sports world and helping them better understand expectations once they land that job.

For more information on the Forum can be found on the NCAA website here.
