Wildcats Claim Two Titles at ESU Open

EMPORIA, Kan. - A group of Wildcat throwers traveled south on Saturday to compete at the Emporia State Spring Open with impressive numbers across the board including a pair of wins.

Chelsie Bonds claimed the title in the women's hammer throw with her toss of 159-02. The Wildcats dominated the event as Ammina AgBoga finished second. Amanda Boor took fourth place and Jenna Yoder came in fifth. For the men's team Levi Kindel finished second with Alex Roe right behind him in third.

Ryan Hershberger notched K-State's other win claiming first place in the men's shot put with his mark of 53-07.50. He won the event by more than eight feet. He also finished third in the discus. Roe finished second in the discus as well with a new personal best distance of 162-02.

The track and field team will return to action in next week when the Wildcats split the squad to compete in the prestigious Texas Relays in Austin and also at the Emporia State Relays.
