WALNUT, Calif. – Two Kansas State Wildcats were in action Thursday night at the Mt. SAC Relays in two highly anticipated events as the field in every event at the meet is loaded with top professional and collegiate talent. Martina Tresch and Sydney Messick both ran strong for the Wildcats in special invitational races.

Tresch opened the night for K-State with her ninth-place finish in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase Invitational Elite race. She was the third collegiate athlete to cross the line as more than half of the 14 runners in the race were professionals. Tresch crossed the line in 10:14.96 cutting more than 16 seconds off her time earlier this season. The time moves her to seventh on the NCAA list this season as well.

Messick competed in the 10,000 Meter Olympic Development Elite race finishing sixth and crossing the line with a new personal best time of 34:56.10. Messick shaved more than 35 seconds off her previous best time and moves herself into eighth in school history.

K-State will be in action again on Friday at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays as Tresch is slated to run in the open 1,500 meters. A pair of former Wildcats also will run in the women’s 5,000 Meter Invitational Elite as Beverly Ramos and Amy Mortimer will take to the track.
