Wildcats Hurdle Field at Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Kansas State Wildcats closed the 101st Drake Relays with another day full of impressive performances on the track and field. After two solid days of competition, the Wildcats shined in their finals and came together for strong relays.

The Wildcat duo of Jeffrey Julmis and Balazs Baji both ran to new personal records in the 110 meter hurdles for the men's team. Julmis finished second with his time of 13.76 seconds and is now ranked third in school history in the event. Baji finished behind him in third place with his new fastest time of the season of 14.04. Making the times even more impressive was the fact the final was ran into a strong headwind.

Julmis and Baji then paired with decathletes Moritz Cleve and Mantas Silkauskas to participate in a rare event - the shuttle hurdles. Each Wildcat ran a 110 meter hurdle race with the times combined for a team time. The race is set up with each team taking two lanes going opposite directions and running each leg similar to a traditional relay. The tandem posted a win in the event clocking in at 57.38 in the final after running 58.92 in the prelims.

K-State competed in a number of other rare relays on Saturday with the men's team of Jason Coniglio, Grant Loescher, Ben Love and Sam James finished seventh with a time of 3:21.81. The men also fielded a distance medley relay for the first time this season claiming 14th. The women's team ran in the 4x1600 relay with the group of Sara Stoakes, Boglarka Bozzay, Martina Tresch and Beverly Ramos finishing fourth in 19:19.48.

After seeing success in the women's mid-distance events earlier in the week, K-State's Jack Sachse finished ninth in the 800 meters and Armando Del Valle claimed sixth in the 1,500.

In K-State's only field competition of the day, freshman Erik Kynard, Jr. finished second in the men's high jump with his clearance of 7-02.25.
